Thalidomide and Asbestos

What is the similarility between Thalidomide and Asbestos? In this context it is the use of substances in the environment without complete and verified testing. While much work has been done on these substances which of course resulted in their being banned much later, the principal of injecting untested and unknown substances into our environment is still far too widespread.

How are we to be informed on what substances are truly safe and what is the next scandal to hit our news pages over untested substances given in confidence across a widespread medical and industrial community? Despite the Reach programme which now puts the onus on industials to prove the innoculity of substances proposed, how can we be sure of the benefits or risks of these substances in work or elsewhere?

What indepedent organisations defend the faith in these matters with impartiality and is there a real willingness to move away from the use and dependency on medicine and pharmaceuticals? Of course, no, since modern economics and governments pander in great part to the modern industrial companies and combined with heavy lobbying on their part, much is done to get as much through as possible.

What is suggested here and over many environmental circles is to find thr way through to a better way of life without this dependency, getting back to basics, learning about how to care for ourselves and in communities, on a local level and to get back some of that knowledge, which since the days of the white witch and the overrun of celtic traditions by the church have been subjugated by the church of science.

Our role today is to promote the spread of useful and intuitive cures and ways of living which empower the individual and the community and reduce their dependency on ill informing doctors and curative-only medicine. In other words, lets turn now toward holistics and preventitives, good living and healthy lifestyles rather than hell for leather and nuke it when it comes.
